"The devil is in the detail, and this has many."
Robert Cray, one of the finest popular blues musicians of the last 20 years, is back with a new album. It's a slick album, one that might be too slick for blues purists (this is a common sticking point among critics), but it has too many high points to shrug off easily.
The devil is in the detail, and this has many. Slower numbers Fine Yesterday and Your Good Thing's About To Come To An End are superior to the more upbeat tracks, but the album overall feels like a fully fleshed-out experience.
