Live Review: PREMIERE: Noita releases her brooding debut EP 'Pink Noise'

Delve deep into the honest sounds of Noita on her debut EP 'Pink Noise'.

In this day and age, young producers seem to be popping up left, right and centre. Some people just have a knack for creating well-rounded music and NOITA is one of those people.

The 19-year-old is a master of atmospherics, creating colour and vibrancy out of just a few simple notes and a raw vocal. If you haven't heard her music before and don't really know what we're talking about, don't fret. Noita has just released her debut EP Pink Noise and it will most definitely bring you up to speed on her fantastic work.

The EP has a lot of depth and intricate textures. The Toronto-based artist explained that it was written when she "had just moved across the country to start a life on my own, where I really didn’t know anyone."

"I was solo for the first time and I had just started collaborating with a producer (AODAN) who I was vibing with musically. I was writing a lot to pass the time alone, I asked him to give me as many beats as he could, and in that time I wrote a cluster of songs. They all had this kinda dark, moody vibe which really reflected my life at the time.

The brooding lyrics are contrasted by vibrant synths that seem to pour over the melody and create a more uplifting tone to the tracks making them feel almost conflicted.

'I Know' is a perfect example of this, as the lyrics depict the story of a complex relationship, whilst a light and airy melody seems to float around the track. These elements seem to balance well and create a very textured track that you can connect with. By sprinkling in some digital samples as well, Noita has made 'I Know' sound almost galactic, a magical journey into the daunting world of relationships.

The beauty of Pink Noise, is that it so truthfully reflects the mind of the artist. It's rare that you get to see something so open and raw, so Noita's debut is like a breath of fresh air.

Take a listen and dive into the mind of a compelling artist.
