After spending most of 2013 in the studio, Melbourne quartet City Calm Down are back with a double A-side release including this track - 'Speak To No End'.
It's been a little while since we've heard from the fine folk of CITY CALM DOWN. They gave us their Movement EP at the later end of 2012, with a handful of remixes for their track 'Sense Of Self' within the following few months. So in saying that, it is with great pleasure that we bring to you 'Speak To No End' - the new single from their forthcoming double A-side!
Sticking to their roots, 'Speak To No End' picks up from where they left off, as they so blissfully continue to marry dreamy electronica with more traditional instrumentation. After initially creeping in rather carefully, 'Speak To No End' soon acquaints us to the speedy melody of the song, accompanied by the whispers of a steady drum beat, bass line and the not so silent occasional exhalation of the saxophone.
Taken aback during the chorus, the track not only allows more space to breathe, it also releases a surge of power, as this part of 'Speak To No End' really hits home. Add the vocals and strong lyricism of frontman Jack Bourke and you've got a wealthy unit of fine talent who effectively pull off collating the unexpected into all of their endeavours.
