Paces never lets us see him struggle to wash a track over in his charm and his skill, and his fierce rework of Chores' 'Surrender' is no different.
CHORES' original cut of 'Surrender' is unashamedly massive. ABBY WOLFE's vocals soar over gliding synths, stretching across a breathless chorus that's practically made for a festival crowd; laser lights skimming across the top of punters' heads as they breathe in euphoria and let the pounding bass tremor through their every limb. With that being said, it'd be a challenging task to try and make 'Surrender' even bigger than what was done with the original. But, with massive brass and a signature flair for percussive intensity, PACES does so with relative ease.
While the original cut starts flying from the jump and shows no signs of faltering, Paces takes it to even greater heights. A delicate construction underlaying the verses bookended with some larger than life brass helps add some serious meaning to Wolfe's declaration of "If you jump, then I'll jump too / If you want me." As her voice fades away for the chorus, Paces crashes in with his quintessential chopped-n-screwed style melody - giving the song a far more club-ready feel. His rework doesn't stop there, however. The second run of the chorus sees the wizard producer distort things even further, giving us a crunchy and glitchy beat with remnants of Chores' original peppered over it. It's a completely fresh take on the song, while still managing to keep the essence of what made the original so colossal.
Paces never lets us see him struggle to wash a track over in his charm and his skill, and his fierce rework 'Surrender' is no different. Taking it to massive new levels, Chores' stunning synths and Abby Wolfe's rich vocals are still respected but are now seen in a completely different light. It's fun, it's massive and you'll be raising your white flag in no time.
