Album Review: Kurt Vile - It's A Big World Out There (And I Am Scared)

The sweet, acoustic guitar melodies of this timeless release are complimented by fuzzy, overdriven chords.

More Kurt Vile Kurt Vile

The sweet, acoustic guitar melodies of this timeless release are complimented by fuzzy, overdriven chords. Vile's dreamy, smoky folk-pop works seamlessly with his endearingly slurred slacker vocals. A break from lengthy, rambling tracks such as Feel My Pain and Snowflakes Extended; two identical, instrumental interludes NRA Reprise and (reprise reprise) are soothing. Though his unpretentious vocals and understated lyrics aren't flavoured with wild dynamics or energetic instrumentation, Vile's cloudy stoner music nonetheless begs to be revisited. He plays at Corner Hotel on 5 and 6 Feb.
