Brazilian death metal band Krisiun are in Australia for the first time.

Death Fucking Cunt is a pretty hard name to explain to your parents when they find the CD in your schoolbag; however, more troubling is the content. Dang Ranger is razor sharp on the skin while adding shrieks over the brutal death roars of vocalist Blake Simpson.

Malignant Monster have been moving in elite musical circles for some time now but Wednesday night was the perfect chance for the cancerous quintet to unleash some new material, including Embracing Hell – originally featuring on a relatively obscure Christmas album, a real treat! Darker, heavier and more guttural than ever, the taste test for the new album is set to kill.

Brazilian death metal overlords Krisiun, in Australia for the first time, wasted no time, sound-checking with Metallica’s classic instrumental, Orion, just to remind the crowd of the maniacal fanaticism of Brazilian metal. Consisting of three brothers, Krisiun have remained intact since their formation in 1990 and that commitment is reflected in a perfect live selection of their discography, their cover of Venom’s Black Metal – a rare B-side that set the more grizzled audience members ablaze. The trio sounded thunderous with the standard Amps excellence and busted out Vengeances Revelation from the seminal 1998 release, Apocalyptic Revelation, along with the crowd favourite, Combustion Inferno. A major part of the beauty of seeing these bands from the old guard of death metal is the updated production value on the classics, and Krisiun did not disappoint.
