Katchafire proved why they are one of New Zealand's most successful exports.

More Katchafire More Katchafire

Eight-piece New Zealand outfit Katchafire brought their unique reggae sounds to Sydney once again and although the crowd was nowhere near at capacity, this just provided more room for them to let loose with their dance moves and enjoy the smooth, soulful beats that were being thrown down.

I&I and ManaLion kick-started the night as the room slowly started to fill, playing a mix of soulful, dirty roots reggae songs that had the crowd grooving along.

Jordan T was next to take the stage. The long-haired Hawaiian reggae master owned the stage and ignited more than one dance battle in the audience as he delivered a performance with an effortless energy you couldn’t help but dance along to. Vibe With Me was a crowd favourite, and despite being just him and his guitar, his persona filled the stage.

When Katchafire came on stage it was easy to see why they’re one of the most respected reggae bands on the market. They took us all on a sunshine filled journey that made you feel like you were on a tropical beach somewhere as they played hits like Colour Me Life and Done Did It.

It was impossible to choose a favourite song or moment as every song evoked an uproar from the crowd who happily sang along and grooved to every hit delivered. The reggae vibes ran through each song and Katchafire’s harmonies were flawless. The band threw shirts and CDs out to the crowd, who received them graciously.

All in all it was a great night, a great show, and it’s no surprise Katchafire are one of New Zealand’s most successful exports.
