Justin Hamilton: Snacks!

18 March 2015 | 3:27 pm | Chris Komorek

"Hamilton owns the stage and the audience in an hour of quick-witted humour."

An Adelaide boy born and bred, Justin Hamilton never knew who his father was and it plays an important part in his comedy. Brought up by his single mother, ‘Hammo’, as he reveals he used to be called, is a self-confessed nerd.

His latest comedic indulgence SNACKS! covers topics of ageing, binge-drinking (and how good it actually is), being a nerd pre-internet and being a teenager and getting ‘fuck-eyed’ for $1.60. He makes hilarious (in hindsight) comparisons to the state of technology when he was growing up and to today. Hamilton doesn’t shy away from stating his displeasure of the ‘new age’ diets either; making specific reference to the Vikings and how they’d never accept gluten-free, vegan diets.

Hamilton owns the stage and the audience in an hour of quick-witted humour. Barely stopping for a breath, if you don’t pay attention to what the charismatic South Aussie is saying, you’ll be left behind. He’s perfected the tangent, allowing the stories off the leash but always managing to stay in control, bringing it back to the crux of the point.

A nice finishing touch was Hamilton waiting out the front to personally thank each member of the audience for coming.
