Joshua James' third album, the first to have a direct Australian release, features a hell of a lead single in Queen Of The City; charming in its sense of immediacy, a grungy, pastoral feel is lent to warm, heart-tugging melodies. James simply lets his easy folk vocal and arrangement style speak with the likes of Willamette Mtn, though there's never a dull moment as layered melodies, darker tones and beautifully constructed lyricism draw the listener along for an atmospheric ride with this craftsman of intelligent folk.
