Sleep deprivation on a working week day has never felt so right.

With the Talking Head's David Byrne lurking about the venue, you knew you were about to see something special as Hunx & His Punx took over the Spiegeltent for a late night musical seduction as a part of Sydney Festival.

Hunx & His Punx belted out fast and loud punk while also harking back to music of the '50s and '60s with softer moments of bubblegum pop and greaser tunes. The flamboyant Seth aka Hunx knows how to play the part of a leading frontman and was compelling to watch. Kitted out in a cat suit, he pranced around the stage suggestively pulling it off and over his shoulders, before taking the entire thing off. Few musicians could be taken seriously in nothing but a leather cap and leopard print underwear, yet Hunx managed to pull it off without it being zany for the sake of.

Between tracks the proudly gay singer interacted with the crowd, almost immediately asking them to take off their shirts and discussing the size of a concertgoer's penis with the rest of the audience. After seeing someone with his phone out, Hunx proceeded to take it into his clutches to rub it on his crotch and lick it before giving it back.

His band, Punx, play the straight men to Hunx's outrageousness. The sexually confusing guitarist, big-haired drummer and blonde-bombshell bass player and collaborator Shannon coolly swayed with their instruments and provided girl group-style backing vocals.

The constructed chaos of the night was incredible to experience. The crowd was immersed in the music with a smattering of free-for-all dancing and a hint of making out. Anything was an option. Sleep deprivation on a working week day has never felt so right.
