"The debut from New York two-piece Hunters is a hard-rockin’ affair that doesn’t quite hit the mark, though it still sounds pretty good."

The debut from New York two-piece Hunters is a hard-rockin' affair that doesn't quite hit the mark, though it still sounds pretty good. The distorted guitars tear up a set of speakers while traded vocals between Derek Watson and Isabel Almeida work a treat, but it's in the songwriting where they let themselves down. Each track is virtually the same tempo, and the post-punk guitar solos are more a wall of noise than any real melody. In the end one track blurs into the next. Songs like Narcissist still pack some punch, however, and the album is definitely something to build on.
