Live Review: BIGSOUND Live: Flyying Colours

Bringing to the BIGSOUND table a tangible visual and aural energy

More Flyying Colours More Flyying Colours

Melburnian psych-rock/shoegazing quartet Flyying Colours are in full swing up The Underdog way, where they hold court over a packed, albeit intimately sized, room.

Their alternately precise and haphazard rock-outs are underpinned by ethereal, dreamlike, somewhat restrained vocals that occasionally are let out to play freely - and when they are, it's a true delight to behold. The band make a highlight out of their well-loved 2013 cut Wavygravy, but more than that, they capitalise on the chance they have in front of their sizeable, captive audience to leave a lasting impression.

As it happens, from top to tail, they succeed wholeheartedly, bringing to the BIGSOUND table a tangible visual and aural energy - impressive in itself, for a shoegaze band - that serves to make them a far more memorable prospect than the gimmick of having two Y's in their name.
