5 For At 5

"The best deal at the Comedy Festival."

Surely this has to be the best deal at the Comedy Festival.

It’s all in the name: a line-up of five comics, most with their own hour-long festival shows, at 5pm for $5. It’s an ever-changing roster but on the first night of the festival, when The Music attended, MC Jonathan Schuster presided over a cracking parade of cackmeisters for the early knockoff crowd. Affable Adam Knox kicked things off with a solid set, followed by the exuberant Ben Russell. Kate Dehnert changed things up a gear with a brilliantly surreal rap, Tommy Dassalo dropped perhaps one of the finest Tony Abbott bits you’ll hear all festival (and you’ll hear a lot), and multi award-winner Simon Keck stepped up to kick this gig in the (tiger) dick - all for half the price of a pint.
