More Fiona Joy More Fiona Joy

Fiona Joy's Signature - Synchronicity is a surreal dreamscape of instrumental beauty. With wisps of ethereal harmonies throughout the pianist's 11th album, Signature - Synchronicity plays like a well-formed, if a little repetitive, compositional success.

Throughout, the album evokes memories of world-musicians such as Loreena McKennitt or Enya, but at times mixes in darker themes and tones, reminiscent of the instrumental work of Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. Joy's arrangements are the epitome of 'background music', with tracks like Calling Earth and Invisible Train flowing seamlessly while requiring little attention from the listener. Ultimately, Signature - Synchronicity is an aimless, but nonetheless likeable album.
