"It's still frontman Chris Russell's hurricane-force vocals and guitar that drive the show."

Chris Russell's Chicken Walk continues to pack Mississippi juke-joint blues with more sexual swagger than anything since Howling Wolf became a back doorman.

The 50% change in the lineup, with Dave Foley taking over the drums, hasn't disturbed the formula much. It's still frontman Chris Russell's hurricane-force vocals and guitar that drive the show. Both are in full blast straight from opener Cottonmouth. What follows is a mix of blues-noir tales soaked in swamp water. Although it does lose a little energy in the middle, it's barely noticeable amid so much of CRCW doing what they do best.
