Album Review: Benny Andersson - Piano

Benny Andersson sits down at the piano to play us some of the tunes he composed over an illustrious career that has spanned five decades.

A musical memoir that takes in many ABBA tunes, songs from musicals Chess and Kristina Fran Duvemala and a range of compositions that reflect a love of traditional folk, these stripped-back versions descend into reflective, pensive modes. The memorable melodies for which Andersson is so well-known for are all there but the dulcet tones of the piano evoke a certain melancholia. These familiar and reassuring tunes just make us want to thank Andersson for the music.
