There's a reason that the psych-grunge movement hasn't captured the attention of the mainstream; it's not that enjoyable to listen to.
When separated, psych rock and grunge can be delivered brilliantly — see The Black Angels or Violent Soho respectively for a couple of contemporary examples — but Georgia band Arbor Labor Union struggle to hit the mark. There are glimmers of hope, but when six and seven minute songs combine trudging guitar riffs with Bo Orr's painfully off key vocals, it can be a tough slog. Still, if Sub Pop signed 'em, there must be something worth finding in I Hear You.
