The mid-west Americana sound does feel a bit confected at times but that said, tracks such as Devil And Dead Drum are probably trendy enough to remove the image of John Wayne from your mind.

Modern contemporaries like Animal Collective and Radiohead may lay claim to these paths yet Gilmour is negotiating his own bold and elaborate route through similar territory.

This endearing collection of folk-pop tunes isn’t exactly diverse, but it is catchy as all hell.
