Album Review: Horse Thief - Fear In Bliss

Horse Thief are from Texas. And yes, there's an audible country influence, but no, Dolly Parton doesn't make a guest appearance on their debut LP. As graduates of the Oklahoma Academy of Contemporary Music, they're musicians of considerable skill. Fear In Bliss is lined with impressive instrumentals; the syncopation at the beginning of Come On is one such example. The mid-west Americana sound does feel a bit confected at times but that said, tracks such as Devil And Dead Drum are probably trendy enough to remove the image of John Wayne from your mind.
