Woman Charged Following Glassing Incident In Sydney Bar

More drama in Sydney.

A woman has been charged following an alleged glassing in Sydney's Double Bay area over the weekend.

Police were notified of a 20-year-old man who was with friends at a venue in the eastern suburbs on Saturday night when an altercation occurred between the man and two women, believed to be over a spilt drink.

The man was allegedly followed into the male bathrooms by the two women where one of the women threw a glass at the man's face, chipping one of his front teeth and splitting his lip.

It is alleged that the women left the venue shortly after the incident when the man reported the incident at the Paddington Police Station.

Last night, a 31-year-old woman attended Waverley Police Station where she was arrested and charged with actual bodily harm and common assault.

She has been given conditional bail and will appear at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday 16 September.

The incident comes in the wake of a massive decline in Sydney's nightlife, which has seen a number of popular venues close down in recent weeks, due to the impact of the city's lockout laws.

Venues such as The Spice Cellar, Lansdowne and Hugos Lounge have all been forced to close while Hugos management recently announced it would be launching a class action legal against the New South Wales government.

Interestingly, Double Bay sits outside of the lockout law zones and this particular incident occurred in the exact same area in which US artist Redfoo was also glassed last year.
