The St Kilda Triangle to be revamped.

Two new gig spaces are set to be built in St Kilda within the next five years, with news that the Port Phillip Council are planning to spend up to to $400 million in an attempt to revamp the St Kilda Triangle.

According to The Age, the council are attempting to make the location a new tourist destination by introducing a number of new features, including a performance space and a small amphitheatre, located directly near the famous Palais Theatre.

The latest report maps out the plans which will include:

  • A hotel and performance space behind Palais Theatre
  • A small amphitheatre
  • A gallery or exhibition centre connecting to The Esplanade
  • A new open space of up to 20,000 square metres leading to Jacka Boulevard
  • Underground parking

The Council hope to have the works completed by 2018 or 2019.
