“Shepparton, on Yorta Yorta country, is a place absolutely booming with music lovers, bright young minds and with a rich Indigenous history."
Triple J is heading to regional Australia later this month, confirming a series of free gigs and events in Shepparton.
The very first ‘triple j Takeover’ will feature Briggs, Mashd & Kutcher, Kinder and more from May 16 to May 20, with the station “broadcasting straight outta Shepparton” in Victoria, where they’ll be “painting the town triple j red”.
The initiative aims to celebrate the bright young minds in the community, showcasing local talent to the rest of Australia.

“Shepparton, on Yorta Yorta country, is a place absolutely booming with music lovers, bright young minds and with a rich Indigenous history,” triple j Content Director Laura McAuliffe said.
“Our triple j Takeover is a chance for us to showcase the town to the rest of the country and give back by throwing some huge events for locals while we’re at it.”
ABC Heywire’s Takeover will share stories from young locals throughout the week, while Greater Shepparton Secondary College students can expect a visit from the triple j Unearthed crew, who have partnered with APRA AMCOS for a songwriting workshop.
