It’s time to get your musical thinking caps on and start looking over the past year, because triple j have now unveiled all the details for the forthcoming 2025 Hottest 100 countdown.
On Saturday, January 24th, triple j will kick off the celebrations of the Hottest Weekend as they host the countdown of your favourite songs of this year with the Hottest 100 of 2025, live from 12pm AEDT.
The following day, on Sunday, January 25th, from 12pm local time, you’ll get to reminisce about some of your favourite songs from 20 years ago as Double J blasts the Hottest 100 of 2005.
From Tuesday, January 27th until Friday, January 30th, triple j will then count down their Hottest 200, with 20 songs being revealed per day from 8am and 4pm. Then on Saturday, January 31st at 10am local time, they'll run it from top to bottom, counting down the other hundred from 200 to 101 throughout the day.
Voting is now open – you can head to the triple j website or the triple j app to show your love for the music you enjoyed the most this year. Voting in the 2025 Hottest 100 closes on Thursday, January 15th, at 5pm AEDT.

While there has been a massive amount of stellar music released this year (the J Awards themselves recently honoured the likes of Ninajirachi, Folk Bitch Trio, Amyl and The Sniffers, and SPEED), 2025 has been a hive of activity when it comes to Hottest 100 activity.
Back in January, the 32nd annual countdown saw Chappell Roan top the poll with Good Luck, Babe! after 2.4 million votes were counted.
Meanwhile it was a bit year for record-breaking women, with Billie Eilish and Charli XCX scoring a massive eight entries. That record eclipsed G Flip's own record of seven from the year prior, which broke Wolfmother's record of six first set in 2005. (Tune into Double J on January 25th to relive that huge day.)
Elsewhere, it was a disappointing turnout in terms of local acts, with only 29 songs being by Aussie acts – the worst showing of homegrown artists since the 1996 poll. Notably, this year’s voting system shows an option to filter tracks by if they are by an Australian act.
However, there was a wider reason to shine a spotlight on the locals later in the year, with the first-ever Hottest 100 Of Australian Songs allowing voters to pick from the great Australian songbook in July, with INXS’ Never Tear Us Apart topping the one-off poll.
It remains to be seen who will top the 2025 countdown, but voting is open now, with all the key dates available below.
