Melbourne poetic punks The Smith Street Band have landed triple j’s Feature Album next week thanks to their latest record Throw Me In The River.
The album, which was The Music’s album of the week last week and then streamed on theMusic.com.au, is likely to debut in the top 20 on the charts this weekend and will then feature heavily on the triple j airwaves from next Monday. It beat Seekae’s new album The Worry to the feature album spot, with the Future Classic-signed act to have a few tracks spun throughout the week regardless as part of an album packet.
There are six other Australian tracks to be added next week, including Grace’s Pluto. Last week the new Liberation signing received spot airplay, and she’s been bumped up this week.
Melbourne solo electronic soul artist Harts receives an add with When A Man’s A Fool, while the currently self-managed Brisbane electronic break-out The Kite Strong Tangle has won over programmers with Stone Cold. Brisbane’s Rolls Bayce – a trio featuring members of Hungry Kids Of Hungary and Millions – will see their track On My Own spun.
There are also spot playlist additions for young Melbourne new wave R&B artist Banoffee – she’s managed by Huw Nolan locally. Chugg Music-managed Hey Geronimo also get spot play with their track Finale.
