Tones has done it again!
Burgeoning Australian artist Tones & I's Dance Monkey has taken out #1 on this week's ARIA Singles chart for the seventh-straight week. equaling a record held by pop legend Kylie Minogue for over 30 years.
The Byron Bay songwriter now ties the record with Minogue for most weeks at top spot for a local solo female artist, which Minogue achieved back in August 1987 with her iconic hit, Locomotion.
The feat comes just days after Elton John praised Tones & I on his Apple Music Beats 1 show, where he opened an episode with Dance Monkey, saying, "We love it!"
Meanwhile the May-released single, which has already peaked at #1 in Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Norway and Sweden, has also jumped into the top 20 of the UK Singles chart to place at #19.
Dance Monkey did just enough to hold onto #1 on the Aussie chart, keeping Post Malone's Circles at #2 and Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello's Señorita at #3.
