Tom DeLonge Responds To Negative Blink-182 Review: 'I'm Dying, I Love This Band'

Blink-182’s Tom DeLonge has responded to a negative review of the band’s performance at Lollapalooza on Sunday (4 August), sharing his love for the band that the reviewer didn’t exactly agree with.

Taking to Facebook overnight (6 August), the singer and guitarist shared a screengrab of a negative review of the band’s performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago. The headline for the review reads: ”Blink-182’s performance distastefully closes Lollapalooza”. DeLonge’s response? Laughs and six middle finger emojis.

On Instagram, DeLonge cited one of the lines from the review: “why are two men who have wives and kids making jokes about sleeping with each other’s mothers?” and commented, “oh my god, I’m dying hahaha fuck, I love this band”.

Fans commenting on DeLonge’s Instagram and Facebook believed the reviewer didn’t have a sense of humour or understand blink-182’s whole shtick as a live band, writing, “Tell you've never listened to blink without telling me you've never listened to blink,” “Wait till they hear the one about the dog,” and “Meanwhile, all the moms in the audience…”

Workaholics actor Adam DeVine added, “Hahaha! Comedy is subjective man. I’m ALWAYS saying that.” Filmmaker and photographer Rory Kramer wrote, “It wouldn’t be a blink show without some ‘crude humor’”, and Sam Carter, vocalist of the British metalcore band Architects, replied with a string of laughing emojis.

Late last month, Aussie hitmaker Amy Shark revealed that she’s locked in a collaboration with Tom DeLonge, completing the trifecta: she’s now worked with all three members of blink-182 on different songs.

On Instagram, Shark said of the long-awaited collaboration, “Tom DeLonge is one of the greatest songwriters and one of the most creative guitarists I’ve ever witnessed. I’ve been laughing at his jokes and admiring his punk rock attitude to life since I can remember. I know I’ve gone on and on about @blink182 but it’s because they’re worth it…

“Thank u @markhoppus thank u @travisbarker and finally thank you @tomdelonge what a dream, what band, what a fucking TRIFECTA BABY”.

Earlier this year, blink-182 returned to Australia for a massive 15-date tour for their first run down under since 2013 (drummer Travis Barker hadn’t set foot on our shores for an even longer period).

The band played 27-song setlists in Australia, which included seven tracks from their latest LP, One More Time…, with fans down under being treated to the live debuts of Fuck Face, Turpentine and Anthem Pt 3 (the latter played in full for the first time).
