Amy Shark Reveals Tom DeLonge Collab ‘My Only Friend’ Will Be Out This Week

Amy Shark has unveiled the fifth preview of her upcoming third studio album, Sunday Sadness – a new collaboration with longtime mate Tom DeLonge (best known as that one dude in blink-182) called My Only Friend.

If the title gives us any indication, My Only Friend will likely be a heartrending ballad, the likes of which DeLonge’s signature dry, twangy voice will undoubtedly charge with even more rousing emotions (for reference, see blink-182’s timeless sadboy anthem I Miss You).

Whatever it ends up being, we won’t have too long to wait until we hear My Only Friend – the single will be released this coming Friday, July 26, as Shark herself confirmed in a caption shared on social media alongside the cover art over the weekend (sidenote, no comment re: how weirdly Shark has been Photoshopped into the cover itself).

Sunday Sadness is primed for release on August 16 via Sony, with My Only Friend coming as the fifth single from it: the album was first previewed last June with Can I Shower At Yours, followed by Beautiful Eyes in January of the year, then Loving Me Lover in April and Two Friends last month.

In a statement shared alongside the announcement of Sunday Sadness, Shark said of the concept behind it: “I specifically wrote this album on Sundays, constantly daydreaming about the happiest moments and the worst, remembering the best people while still getting over others. I am different on Sundays. I am not sure why, but I bet you are, too.”

Amidst the rollout of Sunday Sadness singles, Shark has announced an epic national tour in support of the album, kicking off this October with dates in Melbourne (Naarm), Hobart (nipaluna), Sydney (Eora), Brisbane (Meanjin), Adelaide (Kaurna) and Perth (Boorloo) – head here for more details on the whole run.

Meanwhile, Shark recently spoke out about the grinding workload that comes with being a successful artist in 2024, playfully grilling someone at Sony who implored her to keep (overly) active on social media.
