Australian pop princess Amy Shark has announced The Sadness Tour, which will be hitting major cities in both Australia and New Zealand in support of her upcoming album Sunday Sadness, dropping August 16.

Auckland’s Town Hall is up first on October 12, and Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl gets a chance to see Shark after that on October 18. The next day (October 19), Shark heads to Hobart’s Mac 02, then ICC Sydney Theatre on October 25, Brisbane’s Riverstage (October 26), Adelaide’s AEC Theatre (October 31), and finishes up in Perth’s Kings Park & Botanic Garden on November 2.

In a statement, Shark said she was “counting down the days” until the tour.

“I can’t wait to get back on the road to see you all and bring this new record to life on stage. I’m really proud of this album and am so excited to perform it live, as well as all your favourite tracks.”

Shark told The Music about the inspiration behind her upcoming album:

“I specifically wrote this album on Sundays, constantly daydreaming about the happiest moments and the worst, remembering the best people while still getting over others. I am different on Sundays. I am not sure why, but I bet you are, too,” she said.

“I think about my life so much on Sundays, my family, my friends and probably you. I’m still learning people, I’m still trying to be a better person, Sunday Sadness has every emotion I feel, you'll smile in some songs and feel the love - but you'll also be sad and probably not sleep well this Sunday night.”
