TISM Blend Gorillaz And Tradesmen On New Single, 'Clint Eastwood/Tradies Get The Ladies'

Debuting the track on 'Spicks & Specks' a few years back, TISM have officially dropped their tribute to Gorillaz and tradies.

More TISM TISM Profile

Just days after officially launching their No Mistakes Tour, TISM (or TSIM, as their poster claims) have offered up a fresh new single for their diehard supporters.

The nascent cut is dubbed Clint Eastwood/Tradies Get The Ladies and may need a bit of explanation.

Built around the group's recreation of Gorillaz' 2001 single Clint Eastwood, the faithful recreation is a bouncy affair led by the vocals of Humphrey B. Flaubert before Ron Hitler-Barassi takes over to offer his own vitriolic lyrics, culminating in the melodic chorus line of "Tradies get the ladies".

If this sounds familiar to fans, there's a little bit of a lineage to this one.

When TISM took to the stage in 2022 for their first live shows in 18 years, Hitler-Barassi's standard mid-set diatribe was dubbed That’s Why I Became A Tradie, which saw him offer a satrical take on skilled trades: “When I was at school I would smoke in the bogs/work out how to make as much money as snobs/the dole is for losers, and uni’s for flogs/And that’s why I became a tradie.”

In November 2024, the band were guest performers on the ABC's Spicks And Specks, where the diatribe found itself mashed up with the episode's secret song, Gorillaz' Clint Eastwood.

Now, another two years gone, and the band have offered an official recording of the track for their fans.

Presently, they're in the midst of their No Mistakes tour, and though this nascent cut hasn't yet made an appearance in the set, the band's promise of differing setlists at their shows means that it's anyone's guess what may come next.

Reviewing the band's first of three hometown dates last week, The Music wrote "It’s obvious that the TISM live experience is one to remember, but it’s equally one that needs to be seen to be believed – largely due to its presentation as an evening of contradictions.

"It's that bizarre mix of high class and low class, it's that immensely communal feeling despite TISM's Brechtian performance style, and it's the belief you've witnessed one of the best bands in the country belting out highly-accomplished choruses and melodies despite a sense that anyone could do what they do.

"But no one can do it to their level. Indeed, TISM are a singular sensation, and no, there are no others like them in the country – or the world – for that matter."
