Thurston Moore Announces Full Australian Tour

The Sonic Youth founder has announced dates around the country to go with his Melbourne Festival appearance.

While he has been a key member of critically acclaimed and insanely influential noise rock band Sonic Youth since he started the group in 1981, following the indefinite hiatus of that group, Thurston Moore will tour Australia this October solo; performing tracks from his latest record Demolished Thoughts and his solo back catalogue.

A lot of people regard him as one of the greatest guitarists of all time and with good reason, his vision has been strong Moore formed Sonic Youth with Lee Ranaldo and Kim Gordon 30 years ago. The seminal New York based band went on to release 16 studio albums, including groundbreaking records such as Daydream Nation and Goo, which brought them to the attention of the critical elite.

Turning his attention to his solo career, Moore spent much of the last year touring his 2011 album Demolished Thoughts. The intensely personal record was produced by longtime friend Beck Hansen, and the result is an intimate, brooding and beautiful work of art.
