Conor Oberst — Salutations (Nonesuch/Warner)
As a companion album to last year's Ruminations, Salutations proves that "sometimes things are better the second time around". Oberst has reimagined songs, reshuffled the track list and scattered new tracks in-between "to create an entirely new journey". It's "beautifully melancholic and its storytelling is amplified" thanks to the full band addition. We gave it four-and-a-half stars and Album Of The Week.
Real Estate — In Mind (Domino)
Having added new member Julian Lynch, Real Estate "are chuffed with having Lynch onside, as is reflected in the freedom he's given across most tracks". Listening to this album through headphones is a " truly immersive experience" thanks to its layering, but "it's not totally clear what Real Estate are trying to achieve with In Mind". We gave it two-and-a-half stars.

Anohni — Paradise (Rough Trade/Remote Control)
Paradise "[keeps] the pot warm with unquenched rage" for Anohni, as she is "as unafraid of confrontation as ever". With production from Hudson Mohawke and Oneohtrix Point Never, they "contribute waves of earthquake bass and synths that sing like distressed whales". The album is not "as devastating" as her past albums, but "Anohni can still say more in six songs than many others can squeeze into a career". We gave it three-and-a-half stars.
