They had us there for a second...

Don't worry, The Simpsons is not going anywhere.

Composer of the iconic animated show's theme song, Danny Elfman, got us all having to actually consider what a world without The Simpsons would look like when he suggested the series will wrap up in 2020 in a new interview.

"Well, from what I've heard, it is coming to an end," Elfman said on the Joe.ie podcast.

However, The Simpsons showrunner Al Jean was quick to respond and tweeted a link to one of the articles reporting the supposed end of the show, writing, "We are all thankful the following article is NOT TRUE".

Currently in its 31st season, The Simpsons will continue for at least one more season and will tick over the 700-episode mark.

So, that's that. The Simpsons isn't going anywhere just yet and will be back in 2020. What could possibli go wrong? Uh, possibly go wrong...
