They're playing a free show in the snow

Unpack those skis and snowboards; the winter festivities are starting to kick off.

Thredbo is kicking off their snow season in two weeks and they've nabbed none other than Sydney indie popsters The Preatures to kick off the cooler months.

The five-piece, led by songstress Isabella Manfredi (who by the way, will be speaking at Vivid's Sound Advice program), will be taking to the stage on Saturday night as part of the Corona Village Concert Series. It's a free show which also features electro trio Crooked Colours.

The Preatures' Is This How You Feel? shot the band into the public eye back in 2013, clocking over two million views on YouTube and pocketing the #9 spot on triple j's Hottest 100 that year.

Also on offer at Thredbo's opening weekend is the Rekorderlig Sounds In The Snow pool party (a heated one, we hope), artist Kenji Ogawa creating an ice sculpture in the Village Square, as well as the Mumm Long Lunch and a few bars open well into the night.

Thredbo Opening Weekend takes place on the Queen's Birthday long weekend, 6 June to 8 June.
