The Paper KitesBig congratulations are needed for Melbourne indie rockers The Paper Kites, who have secured their highest album debut in their career and this week's top Australian album debut on the ARIA Charts, at #8.
Scoring four stars from us for their sophomore effort twelvefour, the five-piece beat out locals Last Dinosaurs and Icehouse to secure their spot on the chart. Last Dinosaurs and Icehouse came in at #18 and #27 respectively.
Internationals topped the charts this week, with Canadian The Weeknd scoring top honours with Beauty Behind The Madness at #1, closely followed by the-name-on-everyone's-lips-lately Halsey, who followed in at #2 with her debut record Badlands. UK rockers Foals took out the #3 spot with What Went Down.
Other charting album debuts this week include Gin Wigmore's Blood To Bone at #13, Van Morrison's Essential set at #23, Motorhead's Bad Magic at #29, Beach House's Depression Cherry at #34, Maddie & Tae with Start Here at #49, Soilwork with The Ride Majestic at #60, Adam Eckersley Band with The Second Album at #62, the Holding The Man soundtrack at #68, Tim Wheatley's Cast Of Yesterday at #72 and finally Ms Murphy's Dirty Soul at #73.
Over on the Singles Charts, as expected Justin Bieber was crowned the king with What Do You Mean? at #1, followed by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' Downtown at #9. Aussie pop punk kids 5 Seconds Of Summer came in at #34 with Jet Black Heart, too.
