Among a wealth of local talent during the first round of the fourth annual AACTA Awards, The Mess Hall frontman Jed Kurzel has won Best Documentary Score for his efforts in All This Mayhem.

With 21 other awards presented by the Australian Academy Of Cinema And Television Arts at The Star Event Centre today, it was a win that saw Kurzel beat out Nick Cave.

Former Models/Icehouse keyboardist Roger Mason also conquered tough competition and reigned victorious, winning Best Original Music Score In Television for The Code against renowned composer Cezary Skubiszewski.

The award follows up Mason claiming a Screen Music Award last year for ABC telemovie The Outlaw Michael Howe.
