The Dare Shares Inaugural Australian Tour Dates

Harrison Patrick Smith, aka The Dare and formerly known as Turtlenecked, has announced his first-ever tour dates in Australia. He will hit Melbourne and Sydney, in addition to already being announced as playing at this year’s Meredith Music Festival.

The Dare has become one of the hottest new names in music ever since releasing his first song under the new moniker, Girls, in August 2022—a song that The New York Times’s Jon Caramanica dubbed the fifth best song of 2022, describing it as “epically silly and epically debauched.”

Last year, The Dare released a second single, Good Time, and a bidding war began, with Smith signing to Republic Records. He went on to release his debut album as The Dare, The Sex EP, in May 2023.

The Dare’s blow-up truly began in 2024, however, when Charli XCX—having a breakout year herself—added the musician to her Brat tour in North America. The two went on to work together, with The Dare and Finneas producing the remix of Charli XCX’s song Guess featuring Billie Eilish, which got to #1 in the UK and Australia.

The Dare dropped his debut album, What’s Wrong With New York?, earlier this month and has been credited with being one of the stars of the “indie sleaze revival.”

The Dare will play at Meredith Music Festival on Saturday, 7 December, and will also perform at Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Tuesday, 3 December, and Melbourne’s Max Watt’s on Wednesday, 4 December.
