Beloved Melbourne venue The Corner Hotel is bringing music out of its bandroom once again, announcing a round of shows as part of its Front Bar Sessions, which kick off next month.

The iconic Richmond venue has long been a staple of any Melbourne gig-goer’s musical experience, with shows inside its legendary bandroom serving as formative for not just audiences but artists themselves.

But The Corner isn’t just a pub with a bandroom, because its front bar has also hosted plenty of live shows in its front bar over the years.

Ask any Something For Kate fan and they’ll regale you with stories of seeing a fresh-faced Paul Dempsey playing countless acoustic shows up the front, and you can add the likes of James Reyne, the Pierce Brothers, and Kee’ahn to that list, with a myriad other DJs and musicians also joining the ranks over the years.

Now, a series of regular shows is set to kick off in The Corner’s front bar as of February, with the Front Bar Sessions launching a run of free Sunday afternoon shows to help you close out your weekend.

Starting on February 9th with Kim Salmon, the festivities will continue on February 23rd with Winter McQuinn & Acacia Pip and friends, and they’ll keep on with Gena Rose Bruce on March 2nd.

It looks as though more shows are expected to be announced soon, so keep an eye out on The Corner's social accounts for more information about upcoming gigs. These shows are all free, but be sure to get in early to nab your spot in the crowd and to ensure you don’t miss out.
