It might have been more than a decade since the release of their latest studio album, but Sydney favourites The Beautiful Girls are taking a look back towards the start, announcing a national tour to celebrate their second album, 2005’s We’re Already Gone.
Released in early July 2005 as the follow-up to 2003’s Learn Yourself debut, We’re Already Gone was a then-career highlight for the band, peaking at #19 on the ARIA charts, and in the top ten of the Billboard Reggae charts. It also scored them an ARIA nomination for Best Blues & Roots Album, and a J Award nomination for Australian Album Of The Year.
Then there’s the songs. Alongside a magnificent showcase of what made The Beautiful Girls such a great band, singles And We’ll Dance On The Ashes Of What’s Left and Let’s Take The Long Way Home both hit triple j’s Hottest 100 for the year, reaching #68 and #81, respectively.
Needless to say, it put the band on the band on the map, with only 2010’s Spooks performing better on the charts when it hit #18.
Now, 20 years down the line, The Beautiful Girls are hitting the road to celebrate their second album.
Launching in Brunswick Heads on March 2nd, the tour will keep them busy for the next couple of months as they tour all throughout the country, wrapping up with a pair of dates in Townsville and Cairns in mid July.
