The Rainbow Bay three-piece will support 'Secret Enchanted Broccoli Forest' with a run of east-coast dates
Queensland good-time trio The Babe Rainbow have just released new single Secret Enchanted Broccoli Forest and they're backing that up with the revelation of the song's accompanying film clip as well as announcing a string of east coast shows in support.
A song so titled perhaps needs a bit of backstory; as member Angus Dowling explained in a statement: "We love to cook. We take it in turns cooking dinner for each other every night. The idea for this new song came straight out of our favourite recipe book called Enchanted Broccoli Forest. I was daydreaming while planting purple sprouted broccoli in Johnny's garden, and spirit dog was howling at the moon. You know the only thing that being in love and howling at the moon have in common is everything."
Well, naturally. The clip was created with the assistance of their Kiwi artist mates Kristofski and the Journeyman, who somewhat legendarily met The Babe Rainbow when the latter picked them up as hitchhikers somewhere outside of Murwillumbah – or so the story goes.
Like the song, the video is a psychedelic feel-good romp that occasionally crosses over into strangeness and then back into a generally uplifting vibe, and you can get it right into your eyeballs and earholes here:
