Australian heavy outfit The Amity Affliction are entering a new era. Today, they are releasing their first track with their new clean vocalist, Jonny Reeves.

The track, All That I Remember, is brutal—lyrically and sonically—a welcome return to the band’s heavier musical journeys. Reeves complements Joel Birch’s harsher vocals, seamlessly interplaying the pair’s styles.

Lyrically, All That I Remember examines personal recollections of the Birch family’s fractured relationship with a parent. Joel explained, “My mother knew only abuse and isolation, even in death as she cut her own children off; she died as she lived, paranoid and alone.”

The Amity Affliction’s fans likely recognise Reeves’ voice – the Californian musician and vocalist has joined them on their recent tours of North America and Europe. Reeves was recommended to the band by Spiritbox’s Josh Gilbert after building a career in the metalcore scene with the band Kingdom Of Giants. He replaces former clean vocalist and bassist Ahren Stringer.

Earlier this year, The Amity Affliction officially parted ways with Ahren Stringer after a tumultuous 12-month period, with the band citing “certain behaviours” and a complete relationship breakdown.

Last May, the band stated that Stringer would depart their US tour to receive support for his mental health and well-being, adding that he needed help dealing with addiction. Stringer claimed he’d been “booted” from the tour a day later.

Last July, Stringer confirmed that he’d return to perform with the band for their headline slot at Big Pineapple Festival in October 2024, as well as their massive Let The Ocean Take Me tenth-anniversary Australian tour in November.

At the end of the Australian tour, Stringer said he’d be taking “some much-needed annual leave from the band throughout 2025.” In January, Stringer revealed that he wouldn’t be touring with the band “for the foreseeable future.”

In February, The Music reported that Stringer and the band had entered a legal battle over their trademarks.

The Amity Affliction released their most recent album, Not Without My Ghosts, in May 2023. Following the album’s release, the band went on tour and celebrated the tenth anniversary of Let The Ocean Take Me in 2024.

On the band’s most recent tour of Australia, they were joined by We Came As Romans and Ice Nine Kills; the groups taking over arenas across the country. Independent once more, this year will see The Amity Affliction headline a tour in North America before opening for Parkway Drive on their 20th anniversary tour in Europe from September through November.
