The 20 Best Australian Albums Of 2013

22 December 2013 | 12:00 pm | Dan Condon

Another cracking year for Aussie records.

Yeah we could have kicked this story off with a trite comment like “2013 has been a great year for Aussie music”, but, let's face it, we've been producing incredible records in this country for decades now so fuck that.

The top ranking Australian album amongst our 100 + writers was a tight contest between The Drones' I See Seaweed and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' Push The Sky Away, with the former winning out by a whisker. And before you say anything, yes we do count Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds as an Australian act and we're not entering into any debate about it!

A few surprise dark horses make it in midway through the list; Jae Laffer's When The Iron Glows Red was a big hit with a handful of our writers, while Perth punks Grim Fandango upset plenty of bigger records by scoring a sneaky spot in the top ten.

Check out the full list and go and buy the damn records if you like the sound of them.
