Up-and-coming hip-hop storyteller Sereen should have been celebrating the release of her debut single, Hodneh, today. However, she’s been unable to promote the track as she’s in the hospital.

Sereen shared a video on her Instagram Stories today (28 November) of a news snippet that reported that police had crashed into a woman’s car while in pursuit of a motorcyclist. Confirming that she was the woman in the accident, Sereen shared an image from her hospital bed.

The Sydney-based Palestinian artist has been working with Australian rapper Urthboy (aka Tim Levinson) in the lead-up to the release of Hodneh. Bringing further attention to her single and the car accident, Levinson also took to Instagram today to shine a light on Sereen.

“EXTRAORDINARY TIMES call for the community to rally together,” he captioned the post. “@sereensounds debut song is Hodneh and is out today (link in my bio). This week cops smashed into her after losing control in a police pursuit of a motorcyclist. This is actually wild. She's still in hospital.

“Stream her song Hodneh. Share the song. Follow her. Let's do it.”

Urthboy also shared the 9 News Sydney clip about the car accident that put Sereen in the hospital. “Cops crashed into Sereen and put her in hospital,” he said. “She can’t even post the things she was going to post around the release of her debut single.”

Levinson continued, “On a release week, you are not thinking about getting hit by a cop car in a wild, out-of-control chase of somebody else.”

He then asked viewers to do two things: The first, to follow Sereen. Second, Urthboy added that “This is an extraordinary situation,” and people can help by streaming Hodneh, sharing it with their friends, using media to highlight the situation, and rallying the community around her.
