Released this week, the ARIA-charting Aussie rock legends retain their riff-centric sound, while giving fans a taste of what’s to come in 2026. With walls of guitars, the comforting roar of singer Dan Sanders, and the welcome addition of new drummer Simon Dreja, the track finds Gyroscope revisiting their heavier roots in a refined new way.

Recorded and produced by the band—and written by each of its members, with lyrics from Sanders—My Broken Spine was mixed by Matt Gio at Studio Della Nonna, mastered by William Bowden at King Willy Sound, and released via the band’s Skullery Records.

The band will celebrate the release of My Broken Spine by touring across the East Coast next year. Following a few shows in South Australia next month and performing at the Vat 2 Beach Concert in Bunbury in February, Gyroscope will launch their My Broken Spine tour in March 2026, with dates in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth.

“We set up our own recording studio called The Skullery, and produced and engineered the track entirely ourselves,” Sanders said. “Continuing that vibe, we created Skullery Records to release our new tunes, and we can’t wait for people to hear the first taste.”

Gyroscope formed in Perth in 1997 and quickly cemented themselves as stars of Australian rock. With four albums to their name and charting anthems such as Baby, I’m Getting Better, and Snakeskin, the band have amassed a dedicated audience.
