Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker Is Now A Fashion Designer

Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker has teamed up with French clothing brand A.P.C. and is preparing to launch his own fashion line.

The A.P.C. x Tame Impala fashion line hosts Parker’s “bold, maximalist, creative vision.” It includes pastel-coloured T-shirts, track pants, jumpers, bucket hats, striped hats, tote bags, and dress pants.

Plus, there are sunglasses, slippers, and an extremely cosy-looking blue jacket. If you want to be warm and stand out, the launch of Parker’s fashion line will have you covered.

In a statement on the A.P.C. website, the collection is described as such: “A meticulous attention to detail and a fascination with the analog inspiring the modern provides connective tissue to both worlds; just as Kevin Parker’s music and live shows build an immersive sonic world, the collection offers an aesthetic, wearable accompaniment to the sound of Tame Impala.”

Earlier this year, it was reported that Sony Music Publishing acquired Kevin Parker's entire existing catalogue and extended his global deal for future works. The deal comprises Parker’s catalogue as the ringleader of Tame Impala: the albums Innerspeaker, Lonerism, Currents, and The Slow Rush.

In a statement, Parker remarked that “the idea of passing on ownership” of his songs wasn’t one that he took on lightly, calling his songs the “fruit of my blood, sweat and creativity” as a recording artist and songwriter throughout the years.

In January, Parker teamed up with French electronic music duo Justice on their comeback track, One Night/All Night.

On working with Tame Impala, Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay said, “We wanted this track to sound as if a dark/techno iteration of Justice had found a sample of a disco iteration of Kevin Parker. Kevin has a sense of melody that’s fascinating in the sense that he manages to write melodies that feel both simple and natural but very peculiar at the same time.”

At this year’s Glastonbury festival, Friday night headliner Dua Lipa was joined by Parker for renditions of Tame Impala’s The Less I Know The Better and her hit, Houdini. Parker was a main collaborator on her latest album, Radical Optimism.
