SZA will be a special guest during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show performance next month, the HUMBLE icon revealed.
Lamar shared the news via a commercial on Apple Music. In the video, the rapper walks on the Caesars Superdome grounds while talking on the phone when he’s surprised by SZA, who pours a bucket of Gatorade on him, all while teasing a special guest appearing alongside him on the big day (Sunday, 9 February).
“You know this field a lot bigger than people think so that’s a must,” Lamar says on the phone. “Exactly. Nah, I been thinking about a guest performer.” The video concludes with Lamar’s song Hey Now playing in the background.

Lamar and SZA are touring across the US together this year, and they’ve released plenty of collaborations together over the years, such as Lamar appearing on SZA’s new album Lana (30 For 30) and SZA on Lamar’s latest album, GNX (Gloria and Luther). Other collaborations between the pair include All The Stars and Doves In The Wind—how many of those collabs will we hear at the Super Bowl?
When it was announced Lamar would headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show in September, the rapper commented: “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”
