More Suzi More Suzi

It’s time to tell Charli XCX to move over, because Brat summer is out and Suzi’s Centrelink Summer is in.

Officially released on January 31st, Centrelink Summer is the latest track to arrive from the Naarm/Melbourne-based artist, and comes following some unexpected virality on TikTok over the summer.

Having initially bought a $20 blow-up pool to stay cool between studio sessions, the track soon found itself emerging as a reflection of Suzi’s growth across the last year.

Though her time was spent with plenty of therapy, this period away finds itself resolved by a jubilant refrain as Suzi sings “I’m wearing short sleeves again”, reflecting her rediscovered acceptance and newfound confidence, and the readiness to take control of not just summer, but the coming year, too.

Centrelink Summer is a tongue-in-cheek track about enjoying the things you have instead of thinking about the things you don’t,” Suzi says of the song.

Centrelink Summer arrives following the release of I Don’t Understand How Planes Work in October, Suzi’s first single in more than a year, and a stellar return for the artist.

Having first emerged onto the scene in 2020, Suzi’s pop-influenced indie rock numbers soon found a massive audience, and some viral fame ensued. Following tours around the country in support of names such as Hobo Johnson, Sly Withers, Tigers Jaw, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers, and Mom Jeans, Suzi’s time away undoubtedly left her voracious fanbase eager for last year’s return.

Already, 2025 is shaping up to be a big one, with tours with the likes of The Wonder Years, Joyce Manor, and Kisschasy already on the schedule. Tickets to all those upcoming shows are on sale now.
