Sticky FingersWith Lord Mayor Clover Moore announcing City Of Sydney's own submission to the upcoming Liquor Law Review just yesterday, outlining 31 recommendations to loosen the lockout laws, theMusic.com.au chatted to Sticky Fingers' Paddy Cornwall and Seamus Coyle about what they thought about the local council's move.
"Actions speak louder than words," Coyle says immediately.
"Oh, actions definitely speak louder than words but it's definitely refreshing to see the conversation turning to the light!" chimes in Cornwall. "But we're still waiting because Sydney's nightlife is still shiiiiit. It's embarrassing us."
In October last year, the Sydneysiders recorded a cover of The Specials' Ghost Town taking aim at Sydney's draconian laws. The band said it was "poignant" given what Sydney's nightlife was experiencing at the time.
When asked what the guys got up to at nights nowadays, Coyle and Cornwall explained it was much harder to find something to do if you weren't from the city.
"Lurkin' around..." says Coyle.
"Yeah, lurking around, and we're still good at it," agrees Cornwall. "We're kind of friends with a few pubs such as The Gladstone that sort of let us get away with murder, but imagine if you weren't from Sydney or from the other side of the city and you wanted to have a good time, you'd have no idea what to do.
"You just end up with frozen yoghurt and a frown on your face. Back to bed!"
