Australia's longest standing film festival has announced this year's award nominees
Australia's Academy Award-qualifying St Kilda Film Festival has announced the year's nominees for the $50,000 first prize.
The nominees range over 18 categories and Best Short Film and Best Documentary are eligible for Oscars.
The nominees for Best Short Film are Red Rover, Death In Bloom, Slingshot and The Orchestra. Nominees for Best Documentary include You Better Take Cover, Worry Me In The Daytime, Strudel Sisters and Eva. The competition for the Best Director category is said to be a strong one, with Brooke Goldfinch for Red Rover, Nathan Keene for Little Boy Blue, Dael Oates for Death In Bloom and Jacobie Gray for The Aquarium.
