Things will be a tad different once you get your ticket scanned at Splendour In The Grass this year, with organisers set to introduce a new and very advanced form of wristbands for punters to wear.

The event will debut Radio Frequency Indentification (RFID) tags instead of the run of the mill wrist accessories festivalgoers are used to. Splendour have teamed up with technology pioneers Intellitix to produce the wireless indentification microchips, with the aim to provide a more fast and secure control system and eliminate fraud.

Through the new bands, punters will also have a bunch of interactive social media possibilities. They can instantly check into the festival via Facebook and utilise the website throughout SITG at the custom-made Live Click Stations that will be at the event.

Of the new initiative, festival Co-Producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco said, “Splendour In The Grass is thrilled to be partnering with Intellitix on their first roll-out of RFID technology in the Australian festival market. The intelligent system aligns with our philosophy of always aiming to provide new and enhanced experiences for our ticket holders."
