Splendour issue apology
Thousands of punters were left waiting up to three hours for buses home after Splendour In The Grass last night, with the Riot Squad reportedly onsite and some festivalgoers demanding ticket refunds.
As day one of the North Byron Parklands event closed – which hosted more than 30,000 attendees - the festival’s traffic plan was thrown into “disarray”, with Splendour explaining the exit bottlenecking was due to an unexpected amount of drop off/collection vehicles.
Splendour has issued an apology is now offering free buses tonight, with those holding a $40 Saturday bus ticket able to obtain a refund from the bus ticket and drink ticket windows, but some disgruntled festivalgoes are refusing to go back to the site.
“I don't think you understand what's going on here. People don't want a refund on the bus ticket - they want a full refund because they refuse to come back,” someone commented on Facebook.

“Is it free on the way in as well? I literally waited like 2 hours and slept on the dirt waiting,” one punter said.
Splendour has been asking those demanding ticket refunds to email them.
Others have been sympathising with the festival and the mammoth operation they need to deal with.
“Well done guys... We know you're doing your best!!” another person added.
Friday’s stages saw headline set from The Avalanches, The Stokes and more with drawcards The Cure and At The Drive-In today.
